It’s nights like those that make you remember why you love rugby league so much. I’ve just about calmed down enough to talk about what a feeling it was! Wakefield Trinity’s last home game against Hull KR wasn’t just a win – it was a full-on celebration of how far the club has come. Especially when you think about it: it’s been almost two years since we were relegated. The journey back has been tough, but seeing the team and the club grow in that time made this victory feel even more special.

The atmosphere was unreal. Everyone chanting, cheering, and celebrating — it felt like the whole city was there. I kept glancing at my family, seeing them get swept up in it, and thinking, yeah, this is exactly what rugby league is all about. My uncle is a die-hard Leeds fan and hasn’t been down at Belle Vue for years – he was shocked at the transformation (and the fact that we could drink on the terrace).

On the field, Wakefield were on fire
The team gave it everything. Every tackle, try, every break felt like a statement: we’re back, we’re strong, and we’re here to stay. Hull KR pushed hard, but Wakefield matched them at every turn, demonstrating the growth and resilience the club has built over these two years. And let’s not forget – this win keeps us firmly in the top six, fighting for a strong playoff spot. Let’s hope we can put on a good show against Salford – I’m confident we will, but I thought we’d smash Castleford, and we all know how that turned out…
Fireworks, celebration, pure joy
It felt like we’d won before the game even began; the fireworks and the pyrotechnics all contributed to the atmosphere. And then the victory! The stadium erupted, and everyone was soaking it all in. It wasn’t just about the win; it was about how much Wakefield Trinity has progressed, the bond between the players and fans, and the sense that the club is heading in the right direction.
Almost two years on from relegation, Wakefield Trinity isn’t just surviving — it’s thriving. This night wasn’t just another win. It was a celebration of resilience, growth, and the amazing community that makes this club what it is. And with the team in the top six, the excitement isn’t ending anytime soon!
